With cumulative donations of $10,000 you can establish a loan fund in honor or in memory of a loved one. Donations are recycled (loaned to borrowers, repaid to Ogen and then loaned again) on a continual basis.
Through an impact loan with Ogen you can stimulate huge social impact AND get your money back, with modest interest. Philanthropic impact lenders make a low-risk, five-year $1 million (minimum) loan to Ogen – Social Loan Fund, to provide large low-interest loans to small businesses and non-profit organizations.
Ogen is able to lend to small businesses and non-profits with ultra-low interest and without guarantors because we have donors who support our Risk Mitigation Guarantee Fund. Be part of the philanthropic “first-loss” capital that allows Ogen to lend on the best terms possible.
Donate to fund both financial coaching to help young hard-working Israeli families navigate the housing crisis and buy their first homes, and to help Ogen’s borrowers in general to manage their personal finances and loans.
Provide mentoring and strategic support for small business owners and non-profit CEOs whose businesses and organizations have been devastated by COVID-19.
Support Ogen’s approach to help borrowers who fall outside of our usual lending criteria, including people with no alternative credit options. The Goodwill Track combines financial oversight, interest-free loans and donor-funded financial guarantees, to enable Ogen to lend to some of the most financially marginalized people in Israel.
Donate to support Ogen’s general growth and operations, new partnerships, ideas and technologies to improve our service, including the significant costs involved in planning the establishment of Ogen – Israel Social Bank. Designating a gift for Ogen’s operating costs allows us to improve the scope, efficiency and effectiveness of our work.
Help Ogen and the Jewish Agency for Israel build our innovative new peer-to-peer lending platform.
Choose to include Ogen in your legacy planning to make an impact in perpetuity. Ogen’s cyclical loan model is ideally suited to legacy giving, creating the pathway for continued social impact and a positive legacy for future generations of your family.
Establish and Grow a Named Loan Fund
With cumulative donations of $10,000 you can establish a loan fund in honor or in memory of a loved one. Donations are naturally recycled (loaned to borrowers, repaid to Ogen and then loaned again) on a continual basis, meaning the impact of each donation multiplies over time. As a Named Loan Fund owner, you will receive an annual report outlining the growing impact of your personal fund, including:
- Total donated
- Total lent
- Number of loans provided
- Number of loans repaid in full
- Number of active loans
- The “social multiplier” of your fund
Make an Impact Investment
Through an investment with Ogen you can create huge social impact AND get your money back, with modest interest. Philanthropic impact investors make a minimum $1 million investment over several years to the Ogen – Israel Social Loan Fund, which provides large low-interest loans to small businesses, first-time homebuyers and non-profit organizations in Israel. The fund offers a financially smart way to build a healthier, fairer economy Israel in Israel, with minimal risk for the investor.
Support Ogen La’Bayit
Donate to fund the financial coaching process that helps get young hard-working Israeli families into affordable home ownership, creating a basis for stronger families, communities and society right across Israel. A donation of $10,000 will enable Ogen to guide ten families through the homebuying process from start to finish, turning dreams into reality.
Help Develop Ogen – Israel Social Bank
Establishing the first not-for-profit bank in Israel (and first new bank of any kind since 1972) is a complex and costly process. To show your support for this vision, choose to support Ogen’s overall organizational growth, including new partnerships and technologies. Ogen deliberately streamlines its operations to enable 97 cents of every undesignated donated dollar to go to our lending program. Designating a gift for Ogen’s operational and strategic costs allows us to improve the scope and effectiveness of our work.
Donate Equity to Ogen – Israel Social Bank
As a bank, Ogen can leverage its start-up equity (almost $20m raised to date) to raise and deploy $11 in impact investments for every $1 of additional equity that you donate. For a donor who truly believes in the bank’s mission, donating equity brings an 11x return on Ogen’s ability to raise and deploy capital.
Establish and Underwrite a Goodwill Track Fund
Donate to the Goodwill program – Ogen’s approach to help borrowers who fall outside of our usual lending criteria, including people with no alternative credit options. The Goodwill track combines financial oversight, interest-free loans and donor-funded financial guarantees, to enable Ogen to lend to some of the most financially marginalized people in Israel.
Join the Legacy Circle
Choose to include Ogen – Israel Free Loan Fund in your legacy planning, to make a continued impact in perpetuity. Ogen’s cyclical loan model is ideally suited to legacy giving, creating the path for both a continued social impact and a positive legacy for future generations of your family to oversee.
Goodwill Track
Donate to the Goodwill program – Ogen’s approach to help borrowers who fall outside of our usual lending criteria, allowing us to reach into communities with extremely limited credit options. You may choose to establish a Goodwill Track fund or a stand-alone Goodwill Guarantee fund, to be deployed only in the event of a default, giving Ogen greater license to lend to those on the far outskirts of Israel’s socio-economic center.
“It’s impossible to describe how much this assistance helped us – it was like giving the soul air to breathe. The loan gave us financial capacity and peace of mind.”
Gil, Ogen Borrower

What Donating to Ogen Means for You
Help for people you can believe in.
Ogen lends to people who work hard, live responsibly and strive for better lives. This protects your money and increases your social impact.
Sustainability.
Your gift to Ogen – Israel Free Loan Fund lives on perpetually, as loans are recycled and “paid forward” – loaned to borrowers, repaid to Ogen and then loaned again – on a continual basis.
Efficiency.
Ogen teaches financial discipline and fundamentals to borrowers, and we practice it in-house; delivering our programs with overhead costs of just 2% and a default rate of 0.7%, less than half that of commercial lenders.
Comfort.
Since 1990, we have provided over 60,000 loans to Israelis in need. We have built partnerships with organizations across Israel and have received multiple awards for impact and innovation. We have lent $300 million over nearly 3 decades, with transparency and accountability.
Named Loan Funds
Interest-free loans are funded primarily through what we call “Named Loan Funds.” Named Loan Funds allow you as a donor to establish your own interest-free micro-fund within Ogen, dedicated however you choose – in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special milestone. Ogen currently manages hundreds of such funds ranging in size from several thousand dollars to several million. Named Loan Funds start from $10,000 in cumulative donations, with opportunities to add to the fund at any moment.
Named Loan Fund donors receive a detailed report annually (or at any time upon request) showing the number of loans made from the fund, payments returned and monies available for new loans at the time of the report.
Over time, due to the perpetual recycling of loans and repayments, donations have a “helping value” worth several times the value of the original gift. This is the special beauty of the Named Loan Fund concept – a recyclable resource that progressively helps more and more people over time.
“The loan from Ogen saved me. For someone with limited resources, the high interest-rates on a bank loan would lead to financial catastrophe. Instead, the loan I received helped me both personally and professionally. Thank you so much.”

Make an Impact Investment
- Social impact investors make a $1m investment
- The Social Loan Fund makes low-interest loans to small businesses and non-profit organizations
- Loans are given alongside financial guidance and consultancy from Ogen and partners
- At the end of the investment period, principal is repaid to the investor
- Investors have option to receive modest annual interest
Double bottom line: Financial & Social Return
At the end of the investment period, the principal is returned to you, the investor. This means that, unlike traditional philanthropy, you can achieve far-reaching social impact without permanently committing any capital.
The Israel Social Loan Fund will conserve and return investor capital rather than take risks with it. As a low-risk, fixed-income investment, the fund also offers the option to receive modest annual interest.
